Successful BIIAB ARAR candidates  will also be awarded the Biiab professional barpersons qualificationonce they have achievedthe BIIAB award in the customer and drinks service (licensed hospitality).

What does the qualification cover?

The BIIAB ARAR meets an industry-wide need to demonstrate commitment to responsible alcohol retailing by covering topics that include:

  • The nature of alcohol and its effects on the human body.
  • The main points of the licensing act 2003  as they relate to retailing.
  • Licensing law and the protection of children from harm.
  • The social resonsibilitys of retailing alcohol.
  • How to recognise drunkenness,and an individuals duty to not serve drunk customers.
  • How licensed premises can help to prevent or eliminate alcohol-related crime and conflict.
  • The importance of personal safety.

How is the qualification delivered?

The BIIAB ARAR has been designed to be delivered in less than a dayand includes a short multiple choice examination.

A comprehensive handbook,presented in an easy to follow format,supports the qualification and covers all the information required to complete the examination.

The examination has two parts:

  • Section one : three questions : pass mark 100% (3/3)
  • Section two: 22 questions:        pass mark 64%    (14/22)
